Baci (I named him after my favorite Perugina Chocolates and it's the Italian word for "kisses" since he's such a sweet boy) made his debut as my judging horse at an AKC pointing breed field trial. He did great! He had no problems with guns going off, dogs running under and around him and all the commotion that occurs during these events. He held up very well over a 10 hour day of judging dogs and all the training I did the few months previous to that trial really paid off. Since that time I've enjoyed many judging assignments on him as well as trail riding, a bit of jumping and teaching him new things. Training the field dogs off him is really fun as he has an awesome gait and one heck of a motor when you let him go. I would like to do endurance or competitive trail with him one day if I can find a couple more weekends. Baci is the embodiment of what a registered Rocky Mountain Horse should be and goes back to some of the great Rockies, namely Johnson's Toby, Choco, Kilburn's Chocolate Sundown and Tobe. Plus he has that beautiful chocolate/flaxen color!

Bakari

  • Registered Name: SandStorm Rock Candy
  • Call Name: "Bakari"
  • Black RMH Gelding
  • Foaled: May 23, 2008; Stone Bridge Farm - MN
  • Registration #: 2008041909
  • Sire: Toco's Legacy Man
  • Dam: VBF's Xena
  • Health & Soundness: Excellent

When I was at Stonebridge Farm in MN bringing home Baci, this darling, little black RMH with the softest eyes ran right over and whispered in my ear "Don't forget about me...". I didn't and he came home 6 months later.

True to the Rocky breed, Bakari (the horse formerly called Blackberry) was "born broke". He takes to new experiences and situations very easily, is very trusting and has come a long way in the training I've done with him. I stood in his sire's stall at Stonebridge Farm when that stallion came running in from the paddock and he greeted me with the personality of a Golden Retriever. Highly unusual for a stallion to greet a stranger in such a way!

At any rate, Toco's Legacy Man passed that awesome temperament to his son along with the beauty and brains he inherited from his dam and let's not forget about the hard work of Bakari's breeder Tamara Callstrom who provided such a great environment for him. She is a truly gifted horsewoman; she and her husband Dan are exceptional people.

Bakari is growing into a handsome boy - everybody that sees him calls him Black Beauty and he is an elegant, intelligent, easy horse. He outgrew his cute little Blackberry name so due to his sweet nature and awesome ability I re-registered him with the RMHA SandStorm Rock Candy. His call name is Bakari which is Swahili for promise or hopeful. Fits him perfectly! Again I have to give credit where due, Tamara Callstrom at Stone Bridge Farm gave him a great start.

Brio

  • Registered Name: Dress Blues
  • Call Name: "Brio"
  • Blue Roan RMH Gelding
  • Foaled: April 09, 2008; KY
  • RMHA Registration #: 2008041820
  • Sire: Union Blue
  • Dam: Jake's Betty
  • Health & Soundness: Excellent

A blue! This lovely boy has all the typical Rocky traits, easy to work with, wants to please and has a great motor. I am really looking forward to getting him out on the trails this spring and summer. He has a great gait and is quite a mover. He is definitely a horse of a different color but a beauty.... spitting image of his sire Union Blue.

This boy followed me home from the Midwest Horse Fair one year. He looks awesome on my front lawn and I enjoy him there a lot. Sculpture is my husband's favorite "horse" for obvious reasons!
