NEW AKC CHAMPION TRACKER TITLE
On April 6, 2008 “Lady” SandStorm’s A Lady Of The Lake TDX passed the AKC Variable Surface Tracking test sponsored by The Weimaraner Club of Northern IL under judges Terri Everwine and Wally O’Brien making her the third Weimaraner in the USA to garner such a prestigious title and add the CT in front of her name. We also learned that Lady is the first Weimaraner to pass at the Weim test AND she is the breed's first and only Champion / Champion Tracker.
I always said she is a tracking fiend and she proved it again on this day. In spite of moderate sustained winds and a 3.5 hour aged track our girl methodically worked thru the difficult scenting conditions and I was VERY happy to see her indicate article #4 after 57 minutes.
Big thank you’s to WCNI, AKC judges Terri and Wally, tracklayers and especially our tracklayer Mary Reich. Mary has been a source of luck for this dog as she also happened to be the tracklayer for Lady’s TDX track at 11 months. Big thank you to Liz Raiman who helped me with the breeding that produced Lady and sat by my bedside when I was hospitalized while very sick. Liz is always a source of great expertise about the breed as well as camaraderie and conversation.

Onto other fun things….I plan on putting field titles on Lady. She is very biddable with strong desire and hunting ability as well as an awesome temperament and has accomplished a lot in her young life so far – all before the age of three. People always ask me how come my Weims never stop wagging their tails. The answer is simple: They come from lines with great temperaments, they are well trained and cared for, they respect boundaries and they are given ample opportunity to be successful in whatever endeavors we decide to pursue, even if it is just chewing on a bone in the family room. They are happy and enthusiastic and they show it.
Some of Lady's stats:
- TD Title: 6 months, 1 day old on our first try
- TDX Title: 11 months, on our first try
- VST Title - Champion Tracker: 2 years, 10 months, on our 3rd try
To think that her co-owner Craig did not want to keep her… thank goodness she stuck her little tongue in my beer bottle that day and sealed her fate.
